This famous phrase in Yijing 厚的载物 means those with thick virtues can hold the most, including financial wealth.

This concept underscores the idea that individuals with profound moral integrity and virtue have the capacity to bear great responsibilities, influence positively, and contribute significantly to the well-being of society and the environment.

For a layman, cultivating "thick virtues" involves integrating fundamental ethical principles and values into daily life. Here are ways a layman can cultivate and exhibit thick virtues, with examples:

1. Empathy and Compassion: Show genuine concern for the feelings and well-being of others. Volunteer at local community centers, shelters, or food banks to help those in need.

2. Honesty and Integrity: Be truthful and maintain strong moral principles in all dealings. Do what you say and say what you mean. Deliver your promise. Be honest in financial transactions, even when it might be easier or more profitable to deceive.

3. Patience and Tolerance: Exercise patience in challenging situations and show tolerance towards others with differing views. An example could be to engage in calm and respectful dialogue when confronted with opposing opinions, instead of resorting to anger or dismissiveness.

4. Generosity and Selflessness: Willingness to give and share without expecting anything in return. This might manifest as donating to charities, sharing knowledge freely, or helping neighbors with tasks without seeking compensation.

5. Respect for Life and Nature: Show reverence for all forms of life and take action to protect the environment. Examples include practicing and promoting recycling, reducing personal carbon footprint, and supporting conservation efforts.

6. Diligence and Responsibility: Take your duties seriously and work hard to fulfill commitments. For instance, diligently completing your work assignments to the best of your ability, including taking good care of family members.

7. Humility and Openness to Learning: Recognize that one does not know everything and be open to new ideas and perspectives. Seek out opportunities to learn from others, regardless of their status or background, and admit mistakes when they occur.

8. Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility: Participate in community activities and be aware of the impact of one's actions on society. Examples include voting in elections, engaging in community improvement projects, and advocating for policies that promote the common good.

Cultivating these virtues requires conscious effort, reflection, and a commitment to personal growth and ethical living. By embodying these virtues in everyday actions and decisions, a layman not only enriches their own life but also contributes to the harmony, stability, and prosperity of the broader community and environment, aligning with the wisdom of the Yijing. This is the Oneness in Yijing.

Extracted from Andy Ng's 2nd book on Yijing "Decoding the 12 Wealth Codes with Yijing", all rights reserved.

AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-6013372551831045122024-03-17T12:15:00.005+08:002024-03-17T12:18:17.864+08:00Yijing Oneness Concept in Allowing us to be Time Rich

We know that Yijing reflects nature, and knowing Yijing allows us to be Time Rich, one of the 12 Riches of Life.

There are 6 concepts in Yijing, today let's look at Onenss and how it makes us Time Rich

Oneness: Embracing the Wholeness of Time

There is no time, there are only moments. This is because time is just a human invention and in the universe, all the creatures do not observe time but follow nature, which is made up of moments.

The principle of oneness suggests that every moment is part of a greater whole of our life’s journey. When we view time from this holistic perspective, we recognize that each moment spent working or in leisure contributes to the tapestry of our existence.

Recognizing the importance of moments and treasure each and every moment as though it is the last. That’s why the equivalent of NewsFeed in WeChat is called ‘Moments’, because it is the moments that make up our life.

Understanding this helps us allocate time judiciously, ensuring that each aspect of our life receives its due attention. It is like a garden where every variety of plant—the vegetables, the flowers, the shrubs—needs its own time for care and nourishment to contribute to the garden’s overall beauty.

Action for You: There are no ordinary moments. Enjoy the time of NOW, for its oneness will make you a whole larger than the sum.

Written by Andy Ng, author of the new book "Decoding the 12 Wealth with Yijing Codes" and "Yijing Explained". Maxwell, a renowned leadership expert and author, emphasizes the importance of buy-in in leadership across his extensive body of work.

He believes that for leaders to be effective, they must first secure the buy-in of their followers. Without this buy-in, even the best strategies and plans can falter because leadership is less about the leader and more about the led. Here are some key insights and proven ways Maxwell suggests to gain buy-in from your team:

The Importance of Buy-In in Leadership

Leadership is Influence: Maxwell often states, "Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less." The essence of leadership is about influencing others to follow, and this cannot be achieved without their buy-in. Buy-in turns the leader’s vision into a collective mission.

Builds Trust and Loyalty: Buy-in is crucial for building trust and loyalty, which are foundational for any effective team. When team members buy into the leader's vision and leadership, they are more likely to trust their decisions and stay loyal even in challenging times.

Facilitates Cooperation and Engagement: Buy-in is key to cooperation and engagement among team members. It ensures that everyone is committed to the common goals and works collaboratively to achieve them.

10 Proven Ways to Get Buy-In According to John Maxwell

1. Value Everyone: Maxwell stresses the importance of valuing every team member. When individuals feel valued, they are more likely to give their best effort and buy into the leadership and vision.

Understand the Value of Buy-In: Leaders must recognize that buy-in is not just about agreement but about deep commitment. Understanding this difference is crucial for developing strategies to secure buy-in.

The common ways to value everyone include remembering their names, thank every for their presence, give everyone a chance to air or share their view, calling out their names, be humble, respect them and treat their contribution as important.

2. Develop Relationships: One of Maxwell's core beliefs is that people buy into the leader before they buy into the vision. Building strong, genuine relationships with team members is essential for gaining their trust and buy-in.

Ways to develop relationships include being their friend, care for them, do something for them and show appreciation.

3. Communicate Vision and Relevance: Clearly communicating the vision and its relevance to each team member's role and goals is vital. People need to see how their efforts contribute to the bigger picture.

4. Lead by Example: As with many aspects of leadership, Maxwell highlights the importance of leading by example. When leaders demonstrate the behaviors and values they wish to see in their team, it fosters respect and buy-in.

5. Listen and Learn: Effective leaders are also effective listeners. Listening to your team's ideas, concerns, and suggestions demonstrates respect and openness, contributing significantly to securing their buy-in.

6. Involve Team Members in Decision Making: Involving team members in the decision-making process helps them feel valued and invested in the outcomes, thereby increasing their buy-in.

7. Show Appreciation and Give Credit: Recognizing and appreciating the efforts and achievements of team members reinforces their value to the team and the organization, enhancing their buy-in to the leadership and the collective mission.

8. Sacrifice and Do Something for Them. Leaders sacrifice their time and effort, and do something for people includes solving their problems and make them feel good.

Maxwell's approach to leadership is deeply human-centric, focusing on building connections, demonstrating integrity, and fostering an environment where every team member feels they have a stake in the success of the collective vision. His strategies for gaining buy-in are designed to create a culture of mutual respect, trust, and commitment.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-61905083687301585192024-03-06T12:36:00.000+08:002024-03-06T12:36:00.940+08:00AI and Yijing

The connection between artificial intelligence (AI) and Yijing (I Ching) lies in their shared interest in pattern recognition, decision-making, and understanding complex systems.

1. Pattern Recognition: AI systems often rely on pattern recognition to make sense of large datasets and make predictions or decisions. Similarly, Yijing is a Chinese text that has been used for centuries as a divination tool based on the interpretation of patterns formed by hexagrams (six-line diagrams).

2. Decision-Making: AI algorithms are designed to make decisions based on input data and predefined rules. Yijing provides a framework for decision-making through the interpretation of hexagrams and their changing lines, offering insights into various situations and potential outcomes.

3. Understanding Complex Systems: Both AI and Yijing seek to understand complex systems and phenomena. AI algorithms aim to model and understand complex systems such as human behavior, weather patterns, financial markets, etc. Similarly, Yijing is often consulted to gain insights into the complexities of life, relationships, and the natural world.

4. Philosophical Underpinnings: Both AI and Yijing are influenced by philosophical concepts. AI research draws upon various philosophical frameworks to understand intelligence, consciousness, and ethics. Yijing is rooted in Taoist and Confucian philosophy, offering insights into the balance of opposites (yin and yang) and the principles of change and transformation.

5. Symbolism and Interpretation: AI systems, particularly those based on machine learning, often operate through symbolic representation and interpretation of data. Similarly, Yijing relies on symbolic representations (hexagrams, changing lines, trigrams) and interpretation to derive meaning and guidance.

While AI and Yijing are 7,000 years apart, they both share common themes related to understanding patterns, making decisions, and navigating complexity.

One thing is for sure: Yijing's Yin and Yang form the basis of all computing language (including Wifi, Bluetooth) of 1 and 0.

Note: Yijing Leadership and Management is next Wed 13 March 9 am to 5 pm, details at http://asiatrainers.org/yjlm
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-50031197242178038552024-01-23T08:21:00.009+08:002024-01-23T08:21:51.762+08:00 How can knowing Yijing 64 hexagrams helps you become a high value employee?

How can knowing Yijing 64 hexagrams helps you become a high value employee?

Knowing and understanding the 64 hexagrams of Yijing, can potentially contribute to your personal and professional development, which in turn could make you a more valuable employee in several ways:

Decision Making: Yijing is centered on understanding the dynamics of change and making decisions in the context of this ever-changing world. This philosophy is reflected in the Yijing through 64 hexagrams, which are symbols used to interpret the universe's workings and provide guidance.

From the Yijing's perspective, the dragon can be seen as a symbol of transformation, power, and auspiciousness. In Chinese culture, the dragon is often associated with strength, good luck, and imperial authority. Its inclusion in the zodiac can be interpreted as representing these qualities and the dynamic, ever-changing nature of the universe as understood in the Yijing.

The dragon's mythical status also sets it apart from the other, real animals in the zodiac, highlighting its unique and powerful symbolism. It's a creature that transcends the ordinary, embodying the extraordinary and mystical aspects of the universe, which aligns well with the Yijing's themes of change, potential, and the unseen forces shaping our world.

In summary, from the Yijing's perspective, the dragon's inclusion in the 12 Chinese zodiac animals may symbolize the importance of acknowledging both the visible (the real animals) and the invisible or mystical (the dragon) forces at play in the universe, and the constant transformation and change that is a core principle of this ancient philosophy.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-42228986690612059682023-12-15T14:35:00.004+08:002023-12-15T14:35:47.540+08:00Seeking Good Fortune and Avoiding Disaster 趋吉避凶

Seeking Good Fortune and Avoiding Disaster 趋吉避凶

Understanding 趋吉避凶 in the Context of Yijing Divination

Seeking Harmony:
Yijing teaches the importance of aligning oneself with the natural flow of the universe. By understanding and adhering to this flow, one aims to attract positive outcomes (吉, jí) and avoid negative ones (凶, xiōng).

Responsive Action:
Yijing encourages responsiveness to changing circumstances. By interpreting the hexagrams, one seeks to understand the best course of action that will lead to auspicious results and steer clear of misfortune.

Yijing Divination Example

Imagine a business owner facing a critical decision about expanding their company. They turn to Yijing for guidance. After casting the yarrow sticks or coins, they derive a hexagram that suggests caution and the need for careful planning. The lines of the hexagram might imply that rapid expansion could lead to overextension and potential failure (凶), while a more measured approach, perhaps focusing on consolidating current assets, would lead to success (吉).

The business owner interprets this as a sign to seek good fortune by being prudent (趋吉) and to avoid the misfortune of a hasty expansion (避凶). They decide to strengthen their current business operations before considering further growth, aligning their actions with the advice given by the Yijing.

Summary

In Yijing divination, 趋吉避凶 involves interpreting the hexagrams to discern a path that leads to favorable outcomes while avoiding unfavorable ones. It's about harmonizing with the underlying principles of change and transformation that govern the universe, as conceptualized in Taoist and Confucian thought.

This practice is not just about predicting the future but about making informed decisions that align with the natural order and flow of life.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-49743537638890693502023-12-14T14:17:00.004+08:002023-12-14T14:17:31.454+08:00Second Hexagram: Kun (The Receptive)

Yijing 2nd Hexagram: Kun (The Receptive)

1. Only hexagram that has all 6 lines as Yin (2 broken lines). The broken lines represent the dark, yielding, receptive primal power of Yin.

2. The attribute of Kun is Devotion, its image is earth. It complements Qian and is the other half of duality in life: man and woman, hard and solft.

3. Considered the 2nd most important hexagram of all 64 hexagrams, for it teaches us to be humble, patient and supportive.

5. Meaning of each line (read from bottom to top)

Line 1 - Receptive Beginning:

This line represents the very essence of receptiveness at its beginning. It's akin to fertile soil, ready to receive seeds. In human terms, it's about being open and ready to accept new ideas or guidance. Think of it as an attitude of humility and willingness to learn, like a student eager to absorb knowledge.

Line 2 - Perfect Receptivity:

Line 2 symbolizes optimal receptivity and supportiveness. It's at the core of Kun, representing the ideal state of being open and yielding. It's like being a supportive friend who listens and understands without judgment. In this state, you're perfectly positioned to nurture and encourage growth in others.

Line 3 - Challenged Receptivity:

This line indicates a challenge to receptivity. It’s like a patch of hard soil that makes growth difficult. In human terms, it's the struggle to remain open and supportive in the face of difficulties. It's about maintaining your composure and patience, even when it's not easy, like staying calm and understanding during a heated discussion.

Line 4 - Steadfast Support:

Here, the theme is steadfast support and loyalty. Despite challenges, this line signifies remaining true and devoted. It’s akin to a tree that continues to provide shelter, regardless of the weather. In life, this could be sticking by a friend or a cause you believe in, even when it gets tough.

Line 5 - Wise and Balanced Support:

Line 5 is about wisdom in receptivity. It's like a wise leader who supports their people, balancing kindness with discipline. This line suggests a need for discernment – knowing when to give support and when to hold back for the greater good, like a parent who knows when to comfort a child and when to encourage independence.

Line 6 - Over-Exertion in Support:

The final line warns of the dangers of overdoing your supportiveness. It's like an overprotective parent who smothers their child, preventing growth. This line is a reminder that being too yielding or too giving can lead to imbalance and weakness. It suggests stepping back and allowing others the space to grow on their own.

Hexagram 2, Kun, is fundamentally about the power and virtue of receptivity, support, and devotion. It teaches the importance of being open to influence, supportive of others, and wise in your approach to nurturing and guidance. Each line offers a different aspect of these themes, reflecting the various stages and challenges in the journey of supportive and receptive living.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-13370196985441371862023-12-13T15:03:00.013+08:002023-12-14T11:23:50.378+08:00First Hexagram: Qian (The Creative)

Hexagram 1: Qian

1. Only hexagram that has all lines as yang.

2. This hexagram is considered one of the most important hexagrams of all 64, for it provides us with a good basis for how we read each hexagram, using the concept of oneness and respect for nature and all things in nature.

3. Meanings of each line (read from bottom to top)

Line 1: Hidden Dragon
It means potential and caution, for things are not yet visible or active. It also means also don't use or do something when you are not sure of it yourself, or when you are not sure of yourself. For example, don't show off when you are not there yet, don't criticize for the sake of criticizing, and never take flattery as compliments.

Line 2: Emerging dragon
Emerging strengths or capabilities that are starting to become visible or influential. It also means as events slowly emerge, certain things are visible. Like a doctor is seeing improvements in the patient's health after treatment. A common application is when you work hard on a project quietly, and you start to see some initial small results.

Line 3: Alert dragon
Signifies vigorous activity and the exertion of power. Now is the time to see something happening, so get ready for some breakthrough. For example, after working on your secret project for a while, you are seeing some good responses. It is time to go to something bigger, like a full product launch.

Line 4: Leaping dragon
A significant leap forward or upward indicates progress or advancement. It signifies a breakthrough or a fast, upward momentum that carries great strength, leading to big achievements. For example, your product launch has an overwhelming response, and you are making money fast. Expansion is non-stop.

Line 5: Flying dragon
Significant power and influence, indicating great success and achievement. Here is where someone or something is so widespread, prevalent and influential. Like our social media Tik Tok, it is currently flying fast way ahead of other social media platforms. Big success is there, but be aware of what comes next.

Line 6: Proud dragon has regrets
The dragon (symbolizing strength, power, or ambition) has exceeded the bounds of what is appropriate or sustainable, leading to potential downfall or regret. Now is the time to hold back, reflect and examine if it is a time for retreat.

In summary, before doing anything, get ready first, only emerge when the time is right. Be alert, as the world is watching you now, and they will be looking for a chance to pin you down as you are too successful and strong.

The most important lesson from Hexagram 1 Qian is from line 1 Qian Long Wu Yong (Hidden dragon don't use yet). This is applicable to all things: before you do something, please ensure that it is not harmful to people. If you are not sure if you should forward a message to your WhatsApp group, remember line 1: don't do it until you are sure it is not harmful to others, or it may cause unnecessary worries to others.

Taken from Andy's 2nd book on Yijing: Yijing Power: How to Power Up your Life and Be a Force for Good with Yijing
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-35213986858209882392023-12-09T17:17:00.009+08:002023-12-15T10:32:10.251+08:00Wisdom of Yijing from Zeng Shiqiang

1. The sages never die, they are still alive, we still benefit from their teaching, like Fuxi who created Yijing 7,000 years ago. This is not religion, this is Yijing.

2. The book with no words: Bagua diagram. Because it has no words, you can attach whatever meaning to it. It has no words because the universe is without words, only phenomena.

3. The universe is reflected in us, Zhouyi, the zhou means 'all'.

4. Whatever theories we have are from nature, and Yijing reflects nature.

5. Three reasons to learn Yijing:
A. To get things right. Many things are not right, but we think that they are right, like self-confidence. In Yijing, there is no self confidence, only self reflection, self discipline, self control and self discuss.

B. Morals
C. Seeking sameness in differences.

6. One grows into two, two combine to become one, this is Yin Yang from Taiji. One is two, and two is one. One grows into 2, not one divides into 2.

7. All that is in accordance with nature is right, and wrong are those not in accordance with nature. This doesn't mean reject all man-made things, but need to ensure that they are in line with nature. For example, a man-made bag that is useful is inline with nature, whereas a leather bag that is not useful other than showing off, is not natural, and thus not right.

8. One yin one yang means there is yin because of yang. Everything has yin and yang elements inside.

9. Yijing is pro business, because yin and yang are always exchanging, and business is about exchange.

10. Positioning is most important, as evidenced by Bagua positioning of the 8 trigrams. Positioning is to do your role, maintain your role and improve on your role.

11. Yin and yang are inseparable, as everything has 2 sides, the good and the bad. Nothing is absolute.

12. The highest wisdom is to not change in changes. What is not change is the principle.

13. Four functions of Yijing: Xiang, Shu, Li and Zhan 象数理占

14. Three Ways of Thinking:
A. Follow Others
B. Own Judgment right or wrong

C. No fixed, always changing

15. No good or bad hexagrams

16. Yin is contract, yang is expand. So 9 is strong yang, 6 is strong yin, because 8 is smaller than 6

17. Yang is change, yin is no change. Change and no change are dependent on each other.

18. Four major concepts of Yijing:
A.. Cyclical change, where no change is change

B. When something reaches its extreme, it will inevitably move in the opposite direction to restore balance.

C. Balance with movement

D. Beyond auspicious and non-auspicious. Here are five ways in which this ancient Chinese text can offer protection against deceit:

1. Enhanced Decision-Making Skills:

Yijing emphasizes the importance of thoughtful and informed decision-making. By learning to analyze situations deeply and considering all facets before making decisions, individuals are less likely to be impulsive or naive, traits that scammers often exploit.

2. Developing Intuition and Awareness:

The practice of consulting the Yijing can sharpen one's intuition and situational awareness. This heightened sense of awareness can help individuals detect when something seems off or too good to be true, allowing them to recognize potential scams before falling victim to them.

3. Understanding of Change and Cycles:
The Yijing teaches about the cyclical nature of life and the inevitability of change. This understanding can help individuals recognize patterns and irregularities in behavior or offers that may signal fraudulent intentions.

4. Cultivating Patience and Reflection:
The Yijing encourages patience and reflection, discouraging rash actions. By taking the time to reflect and not rushing into decisions, especially under pressure (a common tactic used by scammers), individuals can avoid hasty decisions that might lead to being scammed.

5. Strengthening Ethical Judgment and Integrity:
Yijing's teachings often revolve around ethics and morality. By internalizing these values, individuals are better equipped to discern the intentions of others, distinguishing between genuine offers and deceitful schemes. This moral compass is crucial in navigating interactions where the risk of being cheated or scammed is present.

In summary, Yijing offers not just divinatory insights but also practical wisdom, enhancing one's abilities to make sound decisions, develop intuition, understand life's cycles, cultivate patience, and maintain strong ethical judgment, all of which are essential in identifying and avoiding scams and deceitful situations.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-11667794378384066572023-11-10T13:35:00.000+08:002023-11-10T13:35:00.621+08:00Kindness as a Way of Life: How Kindness can Reward You 6 Times Over

Kindness as a Way of Life by Andy Ng

Kindness is
a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, enriches human
connections, and has the power to transform lives. It goes beyond mere acts of
charity or random good deeds.

To me, kindness, when practiced as a way of life, becomes a profound philosophy
that can shape our interactions with others, the world around us, and even our
own well-being. In this article, we will explore the multifaceted aspects of
kindness as a way of life, touching on non-violent communication, the
limitations of traditional charity, the potential harms of helping, the
deliberate cultivation of kindness, and the incredible rewards it brings.

1.
Non-Violent
Communication

Non-violent
communication (NVC) is a key component of practicing kindness as a way of life.
Developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg, NVC emphasizes empathetic communication
that seeks to understand and connect with others on a deeper level. It
encourages active listening, empathy, and expressing oneself honestly without
judgment or blame.

In the
context of kindness, NVC helps us approach conflicts and disagreements with
compassion and empathy. Instead of responding defensively or aggressively, we
can use NVC techniques to de-escalate situations and find common ground. This
approach not only diffuses tension but also fosters understanding and
strengthens relationships.

The 4
steps to Non-Violent Communication:
Step 1: OBSERVE. Don’t interpret
or judge what people say, just Observe their behavior, for action speaks louder
than words.

Step 2: YOUR
FEELINGS. Express your feelings as
“I feel (feeling)” without putting blame on the other person. E.g., Say I feel hurt by what you say
(express your feelings). Don’t say “You
hurt me” (blame).
Step 3: EXPRESS YOUR NEED.

Step 4:
REQUEST.

A good
example:

“John, I
noticed that of late you have been late at work (Observation). I feel disappointed as teamwork is affected
(Your feeling). I need you to let us know in advance if you cannot make it on
time so that teamwork is not affected (Express your need). Can we count on you on this? (Request)

2.
Doing Charity May Not Be Kind Deeds

While
charity often involves giving to those in need, it may not always reflect
genuine kindness. True kindness goes beyond a one-time donation or a sporadic
act of generosity. It requires a consistent commitment to empathy, compassion,
and understanding in our everyday interactions with others.

Charitable
acts, while important, can sometimes be motivated by a desire for recognition
or even a sense of superiority. True kindness, on the other hand, seeks no
recognition and is rooted in a genuine desire to alleviate suffering and
promote well-being. It involves seeing the humanity in everyone, regardless of
their circumstances.

3.
How Helping Others May Harm Them Instead

Paradoxically,
our attempts to help others can sometimes harm them, particularly when our
actions are not well-informed or considerate of their needs and preferences.
This phenomenon is known as the "helping paradox." It occurs when we
impose our solutions on others without understanding their unique situations or
when our well-intentioned actions inadvertently disempower them.

Kindness, as
a way of life, requires us to approach helping others with sensitivity and
respect. Instead of assuming we know what's best for them, we should engage in
open and empathetic conversations to better understand their needs and
preferences. By doing so, we can avoid causing unintended harm and provide more
effective support.

4.
Kindness as a Deliberate Intention, Speech, Thoughts, and
Action

Kindness
should be a deliberate intention that permeates all aspects of our lives—our
thoughts, speech, and actions. It begins with cultivating a mindset of empathy
and compassion, extending kindness even in our inner dialogues. By consciously
choosing to think kindly about ourselves and others, we create a foundation for
kinder interactions.

Our words
also play a crucial role in practicing kindness. We can choose to speak with
warmth, respect, and understanding, even in challenging situations. Kind words
have the power to heal wounds, bridge divides, and create a more harmonious
environment.

Actions, of
course, are the most visible aspect of kindness. From simple acts of courtesy
to more significant gestures of support, our actions should reflect our
commitment to kindness as a way of life. Even small daily acts, like holding
the door for someone or offering a genuine compliment, can have a ripple effect
on the world around us.

5.
How Kindness Can Reward Us at Least Six Times the Efforts and
Expense

Kindness is
often seen as a selfless act, but it also brings immense rewards to the giver.
These rewards extend beyond the immediate sense of satisfaction that comes from
helping others. Kindness can enhance our physical and mental well-being,
improve our relationships, and even boost our overall happiness.

Here are six
ways in which kindness can reward us:

a) Improved
Mental Health: Acts of kindness trigger the release of endorphins, our
brain's feel-good chemicals, leading to increased happiness and reduced stress.
Kind individuals tend to experience lower levels of anxiety and depression.

b) Stronger
Relationships: Kindness fosters trust and deepens connections with others.
When we consistently practice kindness, we build stronger, more meaningful
relationships that contribute to our overall well-being.

c) Enhanced
Physical Health: Studies have shown that practicing kindness can lead to
lower blood pressure and improved heart health. The reduced stress associated
with kindness has a positive impact on our physical well-being.

d) Increased
Self-Esteem: Acts of kindness can boost our self-esteem and self-worth.
When we see the positive impact we have on others, it reinforces our sense of
value and purpose.

e) Greater
Resilience: Kindness can improve our ability to cope with adversity. By
helping others and receiving support in return, we develop a support network
that helps us navigate life's challenges.

f) Happiness
Multiplier: Kindness has a ripple effect. When we are kind to others, they
are more likely to pass on that kindness to others as well. This creates a
chain reaction of positivity and goodwill, spreading happiness far and wide.

Conclusion

Kindness as
a way of life is a transformative philosophy that has the power to enrich our
lives and the lives of those around us. It encompasses non-violent
communication, goes beyond traditional charity, avoids the potential harms of
helping, and requires deliberate intentions, speech, thoughts, and actions.
While kindness may initially appear selfless, it rewards us in numerous ways,
from improved mental and physical health to stronger relationships and a
greater sense of purpose. By embracing kindness as a way of life, we can create
a more compassionate and harmonious world for ourselves and future generations.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5729068438223446442.post-43698615347274875102023-11-08T21:46:00.006+08:002023-11-08T21:47:55.569+08:00Work Heart, Not Just Work Hard
People often said, Andy, you work too hard. Work Heart, not just Work Hard

Work, for many, is an integral part of life. It's where we spend a significant portion of our time, striving to achieve our goals, make a living, and contribute to society.

However, the way we approach our work can greatly impact our experience and the outcomes we achieve. The old adage "Work Hard" has been a mantra for generations, emphasizing the value of diligence and effort.

Yet, it's important to recognize that working hard is not just about physical exertion and long hours; it's about the way we engage with our work and the level of passion we bring into it. In this essay, we will delve into the concept of "Work Heart, not just Work Hard," exploring how the heart-centered approach to work can transform hard work from being burdensome into something fulfilling and meaningful.

2. It's not hard to work hard when you work with your Hearts

Work is hard when you don't work with your hearts.

Imagine a scenario where you're deeply passionate about what you do. In such a situation, putting in long hours and strenuous effort becomes less of a chore and more of a personal mission. When you are emotionally invested in your work, it no longer feels like a burden, and you're more likely to persevere through challenges and setbacks.

This is what "working with your heart" is all about. It's about finding a connection between your work and your inner values, aspirations, and interests. For example, as a Trainer, I don't count how much I earn from a class, I count how many hearts I have touched in a class. Even if there is only one student, I could have touched many hearts because of what that one student would do when I touched his heart.

When you're doing something you love or are truly committed to, the effort you put in doesn't drain your energy; it fuels your motivation and enthusiasm. This heart-centered approach to work not only makes the hard work feel less arduous but also enhances the quality of your output. Your dedication shines through in the final product, and the sense of fulfillment you gain is immeasurable.

3. Heart Work Makes Hard Work Not Hard

While "working with your heart" can make the process of working hard less challenging, it's important to recognize that it doesn't mean that the work itself becomes easy. Instead, it transforms the perception of the work. In other words, "Heart Work" makes "Hard Work" not feel as hard as it might be when approached mechanically.

Heart Work encourages a proactive and creative mindset, enabling you to tackle problems with innovative solutions and a positive attitude. This mindset allows you to find joy in the process and not just in the end results. Those in routine customer service tasks would relate to this easily.

You become more adaptable and open to learning from your experiences, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. This shift in perspective is what sets apart those who merely "work hard" from those who "work with their hearts."

4. Hard Work without hearts is Slow Death

On the contrary, working tirelessly without connecting with the heart, without a sense of purpose or passion, can lead to a feeling of stagnation and burnout. The daily grind becomes a slow descent into a monotonous routine that can feel unfulfilling and draining.

Without the emotional investment that comes from working with your heart, you risk becoming disengaged and dispassionate about your work. This can lead to a sense of purposelessness and a decrease in motivation.

Over time, this disconnection can manifest as a slow death of one's enthusiasm, creativity, and zest for life. The absence of the heart's involvement can transform a career into a burden, rather than a source of satisfaction.

In conclusion, the philosophy of "Work Heart, not just Work Hard" invites us to reevaluate our approach to work. It highlights the profound impact of infusing our labor with passion, purpose, and a connection to our inner values.

When we work with our hearts, we find that hard work is not an ordeal but an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Use only English, because the Chinese text is using old Chinese, and few can understand

2. Keep it short, the book has to be light too, at just 86 grams, it is lighter than most handphones. In just A5 size (half of A4), you can fit this into anywhere

3. Avoid going deep into the 64 hexagrams, where everyone gets lost. Instead, I explain Yijing around it: talking about morals, applications, Yin and Yang, how the Ba Gua came about, and how to read the 64 Gua easily.

4. Focus on layman's application, especially the part on divination. You can use Yijing to solve your problems, and also consult the author FREE-of-Charge.

5. Use modern technology of random number generator instead of cumbersome and complex use of coins, sticks and throwing of dice.

6. Make it inspiring, the comments by the readers at the back of the book and page 3 are what I'm proud of

7. Go for Real. The chapter on 5 Moving Elements or Wu Xing gives people a real understanding of what really grows and counters.

8. Make the book affordable, at just S$19.95 instead of $39.45. Everyone can afford this book easily, and you cannot afford not to read this book, because Yijing is our life. Each hexagram is associated with a specific concept, such as change, difficulty, uncertainty, etc.
The hexagrams are arranged in a specific order, and their meanings are said to evolve and change as one progresses through the sequence. The 64 hexagrams could represent your life.

The key concepts associated with the hexagrams and their teachings include:

1. Start from inside. Each hexagram is read from the below trigram, which represents you and your subjective inner world, to the upper trigram, which means the objective outer world. This means that one should always look inside first in solving problems. People often look outside before examining themselves in solving problems, and this method causes more problems. Yijing is teaching us to be efficient: look internally first.

2. Change and evolution: Many of the hexagrams are associated with the idea of change and evolution, and they often suggest that difficult or challenging situations are necessary for growth and progress. Yijing tells us that change is happening all the time, and many changes take place without us knowing.

3. Balance and harmony: Many of the hexagrams also emphasize the importance of balance and harmony, and they often suggest that finding a balance between opposing forces is necessary for success and fulfillment.

4. Inner wisdom and intuition: Yijing is often seen as a tool for accessing one's inner wisdom and intuition, and many of the hexagrams encourage the reader to trust their inner guidance and to act in accordance with their true nature.

5. Reflection: The hexagrams often tell us to reflect on who we are and what we have done. This is something valuable yet not much-loved.

6. Fate and destiny: One more thing, Yijing is also associated with the idea of fate and destiny, and many of the hexagrams suggest that the reader's actions and choices can influence their destiny. Fate is something we cannot change, for it is inborn, but destiny is what we can do. We are destiny.

7. Importance of Morals: Most importantly, the texts to the hexagrams, written mostly by Confucius, are moral lessons by themselves. Lao Zi 老子took the concepts and wrote the 5,000-word Dao De Jing 道德经, which tells us exactly how we should live our lives. Here it is, a book 3 years in the making: Yijing Explained.

Throughout my 36 years of professional experience, including 24 years in training and coaching since 2001, I have curated a wealth of invaluable materials. However, through my transformative journey of conducting the renowned Sun Zi Art of War training programs since 2009, a profound realization struck me: the essence of all Sinology stems from the ancient wisdom of Yijing.

This epiphany compelled me to embark on an extraordinary mission — to pen a book that encapsulates the essence of Yijing. Its purpose? To empower me in delivering dynamic Yijing training and consulting with unparalleled ease and efficiency. Brace yourself for a game-changing literary masterpiece!

"Yijing Explained" is an easy-to-read guide explaining the ancient Chinese text, Yijing (Hanyu Pinyin of 易经), also known as I-Ching or the Book of Changes. As we know, Yijing has, in the past 6,500 years, been used as a tool for making decisions and achieving success in both personal and professional contexts.

(Many people called Yijing Zhou Yi 周易, because strictly speaking Yijing is about 64 hexagrams whereas Zhou Yi comprises of the 64 hexagrams and the 10 wings of text. For simplicity reason, I will use the term Yijing).

This book delves into the philosophy of Yijing, and explains how its principles can be applied in modern day-to-day situations such as business, finance, personal development and relationships. Written in an easy-to-understand style, this book is a valuable resource for anyone looking to gain insight and guidance from one of the oldest and most revered texts in Chinese culture.

Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or a beginner, this book will give you a new perspective on Yijing and help you achieve your goals. It involves setting personal goals, creating a vision for one's life, and actively managing one's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to achieve those goals. Self-leadership requires self-awareness, self-motivation, and self-discipline.

The Yijing, also known as the Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese text that is based on the concept of yin and yang. Yin and yang represent complementary, yet opposing, forces that are present in all aspects of life. Yin is associated with darkness, femininity, and passivity, while yang is associated with light, masculinity, and activity.

In the context of self-leadership, the Yijing can be a helpful tool for understanding the balance between yin and yang energies in oneself. By recognizing and embracing both aspects, individuals can achieve a state of equilibrium and maximize their personal effectiveness. For example, someone who tends to be overly yang-oriented may benefit from incorporating more yin qualities, such as introspection and relaxation, into their self-leadership practices. Conversely, someone who tends to be overly yin-oriented may need to focus more on taking action and pursuing their goals in order to achieve balance. The Yijing can thus serve as a guide for individuals seeking to cultivate a more balanced and effective approach to self-leadership.
AndyTheCoach 93672286http://www.blogger.com/profile/06638550255451969541noreply@blogger.com0
