Sharing by Australia's Henry

Sharing by Australia's Henry

If you are in business, sales, marketing, self-employed, banking, finance, or management, we are often taught that to do well in business, we need to have a good product and master sales and marketing.

So we work hard to improve our offering and embark on many sales and marketing ways, including digital marketing, social media marketing and word-of-mouth referral marketing to get as many customers as possible in the shortest time.

However, you will soon realize that despite doing all of the above, high sales and profits elude you.  It becomes a zero-sum game: you put in more time and resources and get a diminishing return.

What is the solution?  Don't chase after customers anymore.  Let customers come to you.  Without spending a cent on advertising and promotion, use sharing.

What is Sharing?  Sharing is NOT about how good your product or you is.  It is also NOT about show and tell.  Sharing is not about the forwarding of news per se.

What is Sharing? It is about:

  1. Sharing from your heart, your view, your feeling
  2. Sharing something of value to your reader, viewer, or follower
  3. The more sincere is your sharing, the higher is the perceived value
  4. One-to-one, or one-to-many, done via all methods, online or offline
  5. Edifying others
  6. Appreciation and gratitude for what you have received from others
  7. Something that anyone can do anywhere, anytime, and at ZERO Cost
Top 10 Things to Share:
  1. Help people save time, trouble, and money
  2. Help people to make more money, have better health, and better relationships with others
  3. Help people solve a problem that bothers them for a long time
  4. Help people to be more confident in a problem or area
  5. Help people to reach higher levels in whatever they're doing now
  6. Help people find a sense of belonging and acknowledgment
  7. Help people to feel proud of themselves and to be different
  8. Satisfy people's craving for curiosity and sense of busybody
  9. Teach people a skill, technique, method or strategy
  10. Help people to set and achieve their goals and realize their aspirations
  11. Help people reach self-actualization and find meaning in their lives
Why Don't People Share?
1. Feel that they have nothing to share

As we know, the most valuable of what you sell is You. People don't buy products and services, people buy YOU. Most people undervalue themselves and overestimate others. Think of how often you go back to your old favorite hairdresser, pub, and retailer, even though you have moved far away from them.

Obviously, these vendors have values that they themselves may not know or value. This is because what these vendors are doing are the same as what they have been doing for years, and most of their customers don't bother or care.  So after a while, these vendors think they have nothing special and thus undervalue themselves.

If you were to ask these vendors to share their specialty, most of them would say, nothing to share.

2. Think that sharing is expensive and time-consuming. Sharing is for free, but you need to devote time to do sharing

3. Confuse sharing with promotion and would rather advertise than share.  How often do you see people post nothing but advertisements on their social media, and even go for paid Facebook advertisements when you see them sharing nothing of their expertise?

4. Don't know What to Share

What to Share:
1. Key Opinion Consumer (KOC).  Share your opinion as a consumer
2. What you read or watch, need not be your original content
3. Summary and evaluation of what people said.  Evan Carmichael is one
4. Your original content
5. Re-share the above

Benefits of Sharing:
  1. Let people know You, like you, follow you and buy from you
  2. Multiplier effect, for people often share what you share
  3. Can influence people
  4. Can change the world
  5. Attract more followers
  6. Gives you confidence in what you do.  For when you share it, you have to maintain the quality of your work.  This in turn will spur you to improve

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...

How I Became a Fortune Teller: Leveraging NLP, Fear and Greed, and Motivational Theories

Becoming a fortune teller wasn’t part of my childhood dreams. It started as an experiment, fueled by my curiosity about human behavior and the subtle forces that drive our decisions. Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...
