Why I Don't Want Gold and US Dollar

Imagine the God of Fortune comes to your house. The Chinese believe that if you work hard and are positive, you'll get wealth from this God of Fortune. When this deity comes to your house, he offers you 2 choices: an abundant supply of gold and American dollars; and, an oil well. My choice is obvious: I'll still prefer an oil well.

Even now with oil price slumping to the twenties and everyone is pessimistic about oil, I'll still prefer an oil well than gold and American Dollars. This is because an oil well is not just about oil. An oil well is about a stream of income. Even if the income is not high now due to the market cycle, the cumulative effect of the income is more than anyone can imagine.

Furthermore, the oil well is giving me passive income, and unlike gold and American dollars, the income just come without me working or asking for it.

And with the passive income, I can buy whatever amount of gold and American Dollars as I like. Isn't this the best of all worlds?

So my friend, don't ask for gold or money. Instead ask for an income stream, better still a passive income stream. If you too want to know how to have a passive income from a simple business with almost zero capital, email to me at andythecoach@gmail.com or text to 65-8201-4347 now.

Sales Training will NOT Increase Your Sales

Most companies like to engage sales trainers when they find that their sales are down. They think that with sales training, their sales will increase. The reality is far from this.

As we know, when sales are down, the number one reason is lack of competitiveness, not just in the local market but in the global market. Just look at the dismal sales of Microsoft Lumia, Motorola and Blackberry now and you'll know what I am talking about.

So the first thing to do is to improve your competitiveness. Need to look at the following 7 things:
  1. Is the company's pricing structure competitive?
  2. Are the sales team adequately compensated for their efforts, not for the company's efforts. For example, if they work more, do they get to earn more NOW, not 12 months later
  3. Are the sales support team happy? Often the sales support teams are low in motivation, that's why they cannot support the more aggressive sales team. As a result, sales are below par
  4. Is there a sales management system? Often salespeople have no system, they just do what they like. The system must include system on targeting, prospecting, presenting and follow-up
  5. Is there drive in the company?  Not the drive to success, but the drive to make a difference, to dominate the market
  6. Are the top management ready?  Often bosses want more sales but they are not ready to share, not ready to pay vendors handsomely and not ready to pay trainers and consultants without having to resort to government grants
  7. Are there good support from the vendors, contractors, partners, government and bankers?
Once the above 7 factors are ready, sales training will be meaningful. Otherwise it is just to motivate the sales team, and will still produce results, but not quantum results.

Profit Sharing Sales Training

Other than the usual fixed training fee, we at AsiaTrainers also do Profit Sharing training. This means that our training fee is a percentage of the increase in profits derived from our consultancy and training. There is thus zero risk to you as there is no cost until our consulting and training prove to be useful in creating additional profits for your company.  This is how this works:
  1. We brainstorm with you the key reason for your current sales to be below expectations
  2. We identify the strategy to increase sales. This also includes reviewing the pricing structure, compensation plan and product positioning
  3. We will help you make adjustments to the above, but no adjustment to be made to your existing salespeople and headcount
  4. Together with your sales team, we work out the one-month, 3-month and 6-month action plan to increase sales
  5. We train your salespeople to help them achieve the above plans.
  6. Your sales team work to execute the plans
  7. After every month, we will work out the increase in sales from the work done in above and take our50% share of the profits from the increase in sales. For example, if your sales in a month increase by $20,000, and assuming you have a net profit margin of 10%, the increase in profits is $2,000. We will take a 50% share of the increase, i.e. $1,000. We will invoice your company accordingly on this

Monkey Year Forecast: Will I Be Richer or Richest?

As you may know, I seldom see fortune tellers, but this guy was highly recommended by my friend, and I just saw him today.  After some soul searching questions, this expert revealed to me the answers that I have been looking for in the past whole year.  I asked this soothsayer what he prognosticate for me in the 5 key areas of my life and these are his answers:

Money
This year I have the chance to make more money than last year. However, I must be alert to take advantage of opportunities quickly or they will be gone. Furthermore, I must work hard, but not too hard or I will missed opportunities. As this year (2016) financial markets will be down, I must invest my hard earned savings into instruments that are safe, like REITs that offer quarterly dividends exceeding 5% per annum. Lastly, I must know how to donate money, for the more I donate, the more I have.

Career and Business:
Things appear to be challenging in the short term, as the world economies are not looking good now. However, as long as the things that I do are unique and adding value, the bad economy will not affect me and in fact would help because people will appreciate vendors that add more value.

Family:
My forecast for the year is that I may have less time for family, but can make it up in terms of quality.  Remember, always set aside an hour a day or week for family time. and in the worse case, spend an extra minute with your family.

Social Leadership:
He told me that I will be recognized as a Social Leader this year, with social media as my main tool of leadership. Physical Friends will also be coming along this year, but I have to add them and send caring messages to them, as this is the fastest way to build friendships.  Also, click the 'Like' button often, and refrain from nasty comments.

Health:
Food intake will be more important, especially with the advent of more food scares.  I was told to cut down on meat consumption, and to make it a point to have a day in a week as totally vegetarian, or a meal in a day to be vegetarian.  Regular exercise is important, but exercise of the mind is of greater importance.  Meditating once a day for 10 to 20 minutes is very useful.
Overall, this fortune teller said that as this is the year of the Monkey and not the Pig, I have to put in more effort.  Continue to do what you do best, cut down on things that don't work, and most importantly, have fun!
If you too want to get your fortune told, drop me a message at this blog or text to me at 8201-4347 and I'll be happy to share with you the contacts for this very accurate fortune teller.  As he is my friend, he only charges $10 if done via online.

LEADERSHIP WITH SUN TZU'S ART OF WAR

Succeed in Your Leadership with Art of War wisdom and 36 Stratagems

Date: 4 Feb 2015 Thursday 2 to 5.30 pm
Venue : The Plaza 02-346, 7500A Beach Rd (inside Parkroyal Hotel building)

Investment :1 pax s$298.00 ; 2 pax & above each is s$249.00 ; 5 pax & above each is s$199.00 ; 10 pax & above each is s$149.00 ; 15 pax & above each is s$129.00.

Sun Tzu (or Sūn Zǐ in pinyin) was a 500 BC Chinese general, military strategist, and author of The Art of War, an immensely influential ancient Chinese book on military strategy. Many great leaders like Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan study his work and became legendary leaders. Many corporate leaders paid thousands of dollars to attend courses to learn Sun Zi secrets.
We at Asia Trainers believe that you too can learn master his secrets with just two hundred dollars. This is because we take the essence and compile them into a 4-hour course that will leave you with just enough materials to lead your team to greater heights. Since October 2010, we have trained over 1,137 leaders coming from countries including Hong Kong, Japan, Myanmar and even China.
The most valuable lesson out of his 13 chapter of 5,000 words must be found in the 3rd chapter: Win Without Fighting.
As translated from The Art of War: Generally, in war the best thing is to take the enemy state whole and intact; to ruin it is inferior to this. To capture the entire army is better than to destroy it. Hence, to win on hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill.
To subdue the enemy without fighting is supreme excellence. In short, win without fighting is the best.
How does it apply to your leadership?
  1. Enemy here refers to not your enemy but your team that you are leading.
  2. Take the enemy state whole and intact means you must lead your team wholly with not just their bodies, but also their minds, hearts and spirits.
  3. Never destroy the bodies, minds, hearts and spirits of your team. So you cannot over-work them for you will be destroying their bodies and minds. You also cannot break their hearts by not delivering on your promises and make them give up on you. Finally, you may destroy their spirits when you unknowingly make them a fool in front of others.
  4. To win without fighting in leadership is to lead without your team knowing that you are leading them. A leader is at his best when people barely knows he exists, when the work is done, the team will say: we did it ourselves. This is because the leader has empowered the team so much and they have become so competent that they are mini leaders themselves, thus the leader is leading without actually leading them. This must be the highest form of leadership. Lead without Leading.
  5. If you too want to be a great leader, learn from the master.

How Coaching Become Scolding

Many managers and leaders, in their attempt to coach their people, often end up scolding or de-moralising them.

If you are doing any the below 10 things, you are not coaching, but merely de-motivating people:
  1. Asking "What's wrong?" in a questioning tone
  2. Saying, "Let's talk" and look at them in a demanding way
  3. Offering your help, "Just see me any time you have problem" and then make yourself unavailable when they seek your help
  4. Asking Yes or No questions like, "Are you still in?" instead of asking questions that open up possibilities like "How do you find yourself inside this picture?"
  5. Becoming an expert and start giving advise before they ask for it
  6. Impatient, look at targets and nothing else
  7. Look at the negative side of things, like, "How come nobody volunteers?" and then start appointing people instead without giving people time to respond
  8. Picking up losers as examples
  9. Picking up winners as examples, and most people don't feel with the winners
  10. Start a formal coaching session. Most people find coaching to be negative and they see that if the boss wants to coach them, that means they have problems. Since they don't want to be seen as problematic, they will resist coaching. You can just start by having a chat session to get them to open up. Once they are opened up, you can uncover problems and lead them to solutions that they want. That is what coaching is about. Period

Your Hidden Poison Inside You now

What are some things that hold people back from being successful? originally appeared on Quora - the knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights.
Answer by Rebecca Masseywho quit a 'safe, reliable' full-time job to be a writer, on Quora:
When I quit full-time work to spend more time writing, the number one thing people told me was "That's awesome!" The number two thing -- and it was a very close second: "I could never do something like that," and its common variant, "I want to do something like that, but..."
Not very long ago--less than two years ago--I never could have done something like this, either. What changed? What made the difference?
The problem isn't money, or know-how, or knowledge, and for most people, it also isn't time. The problem is fear.
Fear that you'll fail. Fear that everyone will think you're stupid or crazy. Fear of the difficulty and suffering that may or will come along the way. Fear that what you do won't mean anything or have any value to anyone. Fear that you're not good enough, that what you'll do is in fact not even worth your own time. Fear that it's too late and you're too far behind to even start. Fear that no matter how hard you try, it will all have been for nothing.
That's what's keeping you still. That's what's holding you back. It's because you're afraid.
THIS IS NORMAL. Everyone has these fears. Everyone. Think of all the most fearless go-getters you know. They're scared too.
The difference is that at some point, these fearless go-getters decided they were going to do something about the fear, and then they did it--whatever they needed to do to live with the fear, to move through it, and to take action anyway.
It's easy to get caught up in thinking that you have a million things to do before you can even start. This is wrong. Flat out wrong. Dead wrong. You don't have a million things to do. You have one: Face your fear, and figure out how you're dealing with it.
"Yeah, okay, great," you're thinking. "HOW do I face the fear?"
Challenge accepted. Let's work through the list from above. It is by no means complete or comprehensive for all possible fears of all people, but I think at least one of them applies to everyone (self included).
  • Fear that you'll fail. You might fail. It's true. You could do 100% of everything perfectly right and there's still no guarantee that you will succeed. There are usually two assumptions that feed into the fear of failure. One is the idea that failure is automatically a fault. The fault isn't in the failure itself--it's in not trying to succeed or improve.  The assumption is that people tend to think about success and failure in all-or-nothing, hyper-idealized-or-catastrophic terms. Neither success or failure things are going to happen. It may be the case that you're middling and muddling for a while, not really succeeding or failing. But if you're happier doing that than doing what you're doing now, and if good new things (any good new things, not just money) come into your life along the way, how on earth could it be "failing?"
  • Fear that everyone will think you're stupid or crazy. Some people WILL think you're stupid or crazy--even if you're a wild success--and it will hurt. There's no avoiding it. However, you WILL ALSO be stunned at how many people already think that you're smart and awesome and that what you want to do is totally great and that you should do it right now.
  • Fear of the difficulty and suffering that may or will come along the way. Let me tell you, now this: Are you not already experiencing hardship by ignoring what you really want to be doing, waking up each day knowing that you won't be doing that thing today, talking yourself out of it whenever you feel your mind or heart calling?
  • Fear that what you do won't mean anything or have any value to anyone. The funny thing about meaning and value to others is that it really isn't your call--it's up to other people. You cannot force what you do to be meaningful to others (not even charity work); all you can do is try your best to connect your work to the people who are most likely to find it meaningful, and let them feel what they will about it. The flip side? If it's meaningful and fulfilling to YOU, it is almost impossible that it will not be valuable to anyone else, if for no other reason than that happiness is infectious--when people see it, they want it, and they're attracted to it.
  • Fear that you're not good enough, that what you'll do is in fact not even worth your own time. All of us doubt that we're good enough and that what we're doing is good enough. The little doubting voice never goes away. But everything you do is a step toward the next thing you're going to do. Even if the first twenty thousand steps land in mud, keep your head about you and keep walking toward the good places and you will get there. That other people got there faster, or are already there, doesn't mean you can't or won't.
  • Fear that it's too late and you're too far behind to even start. It's never too late to have a happy ending. And there isn't a cap on the number of happy endings to go around.
  • Fear that no matter how hard you try, it will all have been for nothing. If you actually do try, this is genuinely impossible. Your new endeavor may crash, burn, and explode, but you'll be in a new place in your life, with new things to build forward from, and new people to help you do it.
Once again, this article isn't about having the solution to all possible problems. But there is one problem that's really holding you back: Fear.
Move through the fear, and you will be shocked--in a good way--at all the good things that happen next.
I promise.

The customer is selling himself, and he too sells his friends (i.e. give referrals). This is the ultimate in selling: sell without selling
  5. If you too want to be a great salesperson, learn from the master in the use of tactics or stratagems
