Dealing with Stress from COVID-19

Many people are feeling very stressed now from the COVID-19 Pandemic, as evidenced by the messages in the group chats and news from the media.  Definitely, life is different now, from simple things like eating lunch to more complex things like how to get the report out to your client and negotiate a business deal. We know that if you don't deal with stress, the stress will deal with you and your life will be affected, both emotionally and physically. The 5 ways to deal with Stress from COVID-19 include:
  1. Balance your receipt of negative news with positive news.  We know that when you receive news about COVID-19, it is mostly negative. So we need to also catch up on other news like history, geography, travel, music, entertainment etc
  2. Exercise (in your house).  Simple exercises like stretching, push-ups, sit-ups and even yoga can be done at home using videos from YouTube as a guide
  3. Stop meddling small things. When you work from home, you will tend to get picky on small things like where the towel should be hanged.  In the past when you are out at work, you are unlikely to do this because you have been too tired out the whole day
  4. Be Entertained. It's strange that when you are at home most of the time, your entertainment time actually decreases.  I choose to listen to music and watch one favourite old classic movie every day instead of looking at WhatsApp Messages all the time
  5. Serve.  When you are stressed, your stress will go away immediately when you serve or offer free help to society.  I choose to offer my professional services to the society for free, like writing an original inspiring article each morning and offering video lessons in my paid WeChat Marketing video course for free.  I also offer FREE training on Profiling on Facebook Live each week. Just leave me a WhatsApp message at 65-93672286 and I'll give you the details.  This is my little way to serve society. What about you my friend?  How do you serve others instead of just serving yourself?  Leave me your comments below or join my WeChat Singapore Facebook group at bit.ly/wechatsg.  Related articles

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...

Kindness as a Way of Life: How Kindness can Reward You 6 Times Over

Kindness as a Way of Life by Andy Ng Kindness is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, enriches human connections, and has the power to transform lives. It goes beyond mere acts of charity or random good deeds. To me, kindness, when practiced as a way of life, becomes a profound philosophy that can shape our interactions with others, the world around us, and even our own well-being. In this article, we will explore the multifaceted aspects of kindness as a way of life, touching on non-violent communication, the limitations of traditional charity, the potential harms of helping, the deliberate cultivation of kindness, and the incredible rewards it brings. 1.       Non-Violent Communication Non-violent communication (NVC) is a key component of practicing kindness as a way of life. Developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg, NVC emphasizes empathetic communication that seeks to understand and connect with others on a deeper level. It encourages ...
