The Big P is More Deadly Than COVID-19 Virus

The biggest lesson for me from Covid-19 is Procrastination is more deadly than the virus itself.

Because of procrastination, people may not get tested and treated and they may die instead of getting healed.

Because of procrastination, people put off doing things, waiting for another day.  The things that they put off could be to lose weight, look for a job, get organised, learn the course that they want, or simply putting off eating their favourite food or buying the wireless earbuds that they yearn for.  Now with shops closed and lockdown in cities, they cannot do anything other than watch on the internet. Even without the lockdown, people are afraid of going out.

Because of procrastination, people didn't say the things they want to say, do inner self-cleansing, or be religious or spiritual.  Now they cannot go out, they cannot do anything, not even visit the temples or shrines they wanted, or talk to the pastor that they need.

Because of procrastination, people now are stuck, they got no job, no business, no income, and even if they now have all the time to do online shopping, they cannot afford to buy.  The smartwatch that they love so much was not bought because people are waiting for the price to drop.  When the price drop, they are too scared to buy and missed buying it at all. Now even they got the money they cannot buy, because shipments are curtailed and shops are closed, or MRTs could be suspended because of lockdown, or because they are not supposed to go out buy anything other than essentials.

Because of procrastination, people now could be sick, even if not physical, but mentally.  They are fed with daily news of Covid-19 and they got more worried than before. The result?Procrastinate more!

People now vow that once the Covid-19 is over, or the lockdown is over, or when the shops are re-opened, they will rush out to buy the things they want or eat the food they want.  But we know this day will never come, not because Covid-19 will last forever, but because people will also procrastinate when the time comes. This is because they feel that they have been procrastinating all these while, why not procrastinate again?

Because of procrastination, people don't want to finish reading this article or procrastinate to share this article to their love ones.  What's the solution to procrastination?  Just do it!  Tomorrow never comes.  Treat each day as the last and only day. Never aim for perfection, just do it and you can always correct or improve it later.  Prevention is better than cure.  Do it NOW!   Other interesting articles that you shouldn't procrastinate reading:

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...

Kindness as a Way of Life: How Kindness can Reward You 6 Times Over

Kindness as a Way of Life by Andy Ng Kindness is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, enriches human connections, and has the power to transform lives. It goes beyond mere acts of charity or random good deeds. To me, kindness, when practiced as a way of life, becomes a profound philosophy that can shape our interactions with others, the world around us, and even our own well-being. In this article, we will explore the multifaceted aspects of kindness as a way of life, touching on non-violent communication, the limitations of traditional charity, the potential harms of helping, the deliberate cultivation of kindness, and the incredible rewards it brings. 1.       Non-Violent Communication Non-violent communication (NVC) is a key component of practicing kindness as a way of life. Developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg, NVC emphasizes empathetic communication that seeks to understand and connect with others on a deeper level. It encourages ...
