You know, people often tell me,
“Andy, you’re so good at what you do.”
And sometimes, others say,
“Andy, you’re not that good.”
For a long time, I wondered — which one is true?
Am I good, or am I not good enough?
But now, at the age of 62, I’ve realised something profound:
there is no good or bad.
It’s all a matter of perspective.
When I began to study the Yijing, the Book of Changes, I discovered the wisdom of Yin and Yang — the two sides of everything.
Yin represents what is hidden, what cannot be seen.
Yang represents what is visible, what is expressed.
So when people say, “You’re good,”
they are simply recognising the visible side of me — the yang, the part they can see.
But that’s not the whole picture.
Every light has a shadow, and every shadow has light within it.
That’s why the Yijing teaches that within Yin there is Yang,
and within Yang there is Yin.
Once I understood this, my heart became calm.
When people say I’m good, I smile and say, “Thank you.”
When people say I’m no good, I also smile and say, “Thank you.”
Because neither defines me.
I know that I am more than what people see —
more than their praise,
more than their judgment.
Inside, I tell myself gently:
“I am always becoming better than what anyone can say.”
And that is the freedom the Yijing gives —
to live beyond good or bad,
and simply be at peace with who you truly are.
Living with SuperME means that I am a SuperME, no matter good or bad. That's a profound thinking, we'll cover this in the next article
