💼 Why I Chose Creation Over Convention As a Chartered Accountant, I began my career in 1987 as an auditor with one of the Big Four firms. On paper, I was doing well — everyone thought I’d stay on and eventually become a partner. But after just two years, I quit. People were shocked. They asked, “Andy, why give up such a good career?” And I told them something simple yet true: “I don’t like to be the hindsight person.” You see, auditing is about checking what has happened — finding mistakes, pointing out what went wrong. But I’ve always preferred to be on the creation side — to build businesses, create value, shape the future. That’s why, when I joined KPMG in 1991, I didn’t return to auditing.
