The Knowing–Doing Gap: Why Good Intentions Don’t Create Good Results As the year draws to a close, many of us are busy reflecting, planning, and setting resolutions. We know what we should do. Exercise more Lead better Care more Act with courage. And yet, when the new year arrives, life often looks the same. This is the Knowing–Doing Gap . In Love Intelligence , I wrote: “Knowing is comfortable. Doing is costly. Growth happens only when we are willing to pay the price of action.” The gap between knowing and doing is not caused by a lack of intelligence. It is caused by a lack of Love Intelligence (LQ) . We fail to act because: We don’t care enough about the outcome We lack the courage to be uncomfortable We feel disconnected from purpose That’s why LQ is built on Care, Courage, and Connection .
