The Knowing–Doing Gap: Why Good Intentions Don’t Create Good Results
As the year draws to a close, many of us are busy reflecting, planning, and setting resolutions. We know what we should do.
- Exercise more
- Lead better
- Care more
- Act with courage.
And yet, when the new year arrives, life often looks the same.
This is the Knowing–Doing Gap.
In Love Intelligence, I wrote:
“Knowing is comfortable. Doing is costly. Growth happens only when we are willing to pay the price of action.”
The gap between knowing and doing is not caused by a lack of intelligence.
It is caused by a lack of Love Intelligence (LQ).
We fail to act because:
We don’t care enough about the outcome
We lack the courage to be uncomfortable
We feel disconnected from purpose
That’s why LQ is built on Care, Courage, and Connection.
- Care moves the heart.
- Courage moves the feet.
- Connection sustains the journey.
Festive seasons are powerful moments. They remind us of what truly matters.
But without action, reflection becomes regret.
Another line from Love Intelligence says:
“What you love determines what you act on. What you don’t act on, you never truly loved.”
As the new year approaches, ask yourself one honest question:
What do I know, but still refuse to do?
Closing the Knowing–Doing Gap is the difference between another year of planning and a year of progress.
If you are ready to turn insight into action, clarity into courage, and intention into results, Love Intelligence is written for you.
