Not IQ or EQ but LQ

Not IQ, Not EQ, But LQ

Most people think success comes from IQ.

Some say EQ is the game changer.
But if IQ were enough, every top student would become a top leader.
If EQ were enough, every empathetic person would rise to the C-suite.

But look around this room.
We all know brilliant people… struggling.
We all know caring people… still stuck.

So the real question is:
What is the missing intelligence that creates influence, trust, loyalty, and breakthrough results?

I discovered it the hard way — after 39 years of working training over tens of thousands of people, through wins, losses, and heartbreaks.

And today, I want to propose something bold:

The intelligence that will define the next decade is not IQ or EQ —
but LQ: Love Intelligence.

Years ago, I was coaching the Vitagen sales team that had all the tools, scripts, motivation…

But results were flat.

The best salesperson wasn’t the smartest.
She wasn’t the most charismatic.
She was Soft-spoken.
Not the typical “sales warrior.”

But month after month, she outsold everyone.

So I followed her for a day.

She did something extraordinary… by doing something very ordinary.

She noticed things others ignored.
She listened without trying to impress.
She remembered tiny details — people’s birthdays, their worries, their children’s exams.
She connected without pressure.

At the end of the day, she said something I will never forget:

“Andy, they buy because they feel safe with me.”

Safe.
Not persuaded.
Not impressed.
Not manipulated.

Safe.

In that moment, something clicked in me.

This auntie wasn’t selling with IQ.
She wasn’t selling with EQ.

She was selling with LQ — Love Intelligence.
Care. Courage. Connection.

The 3Cs.

This is the same power Sun Tzu talked about 2,500 years ago — though he never used the word “love.”

He said:
“Win hearts before winning battles.”
“Know yourself and know others.”
“Do what is right, not what is easy.”

People think Sun Tzu is about war.
Actually, his strategies are love strategies for business, sales, leadership, and life.

The hidden truth behind every lasting success is the same:

People don’t follow strength.
People follow the one who cares.

Let me break down
why LQ — Love Intelligence — beats IQ and EQ in the real world.

1. IQ solves problems. LQ prevents them.

IQ can analyse.
EQ can soothe feelings.
But LQ builds trust so strong that misunderstandings don’t escalate.
A team with high LQ doesn’t waste time on politics, blame, or fear.

2. EQ makes you likeable. LQ makes you unforgettable.

EQ is about understanding emotions.
LQ is about elevating emotions — helping others feel valued, respected, safe, appreciated.
People remember you not for what you said, but for how you made them feel about themselves.

3. LQ is the superpower AI cannot replace.

I train leaders on AI.
One truth stands out: AI can compute, write, draw…
But it cannot care.  It cannot look into people’s eyes with love.
It cannot connect heart to heart.

The future belongs to those who lead with love —
not the romantic kind, but the strategic human excellence kind.

4. Sun Tzu + LQ = Breakthrough Influence

Sun Tzu taught:

  • Win without fighting
  • Use positioning, not pushing
  • Lead by clarity, not control

This is exactly how modern leaders and salespeople win today.

Influence without force.
Leadership without fear.
Success without burnout.

That is the power of LQ.

And that is why I wrote my two books:

Love Intelligence (LQ) — the new blueprint for influence and leadership
and
Sun Tzu Sales Secrets — how to win customers without pressure, pushiness, or competition.

One is the heart.
The other is the strategy.

Together, they form a complete system:
Win hearts, win minds, win results — without fighting.

If today’s speech made you pause…

If it made you reflect…
If it made you say, “Yes, this is what leaders need today,”
then don’t let this remain just inspiration.

Let it become your advantage.

I brought two books today:

Love Intelligence (LQ) — The Proven System to Build Your Wealth, Career and Life
Sun Tzu Sales Secrets — powerful strategies that help you win customers ethically and elegantly.

Individually they are $35 each,
but for Agora Speakers today,
you get both for just $39.90.

Because I want more people — especially speakers —
to lead with heart, influence with purpose,
and create results that last.

Ladies and gentlemen,
the future does not belong to IQ or EQ.

The future belongs to LQ.
And when you master it —
you don’t just win.
You win with love.

Thank you.

How I Became a Fortune Teller: Leveraging NLP, Fear and Greed, and Motivational Theories

Becoming a fortune teller wasn’t part of my childhood dreams. It started as an experiment, fueled by my curiosity about human behavior and the subtle forces that drive our decisions. Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...
