Satya Nadella Just Said the LQ Thing

What Microsoft’s CEO Said About Empathy — And How It Confirms Andy Ng’s Love Intelligence (LQ)

When Satya Nadella said,

“IQ without EQ is just a waste,”

he wasn’t talking about being soft.

He was talking about the new survival skill in the age of AI:

the ability to understand people, uplift people, and connect meaningfully.

In other words, Love Intelligence (LQ).

Because LQ is not about feelings.

LQ is the strategic use of Care, Courage and Connection to create performance, trust and human energy.

And what Satya calls a “superpower”…

is exactly what I Andy have been teaching for 29 years.

Let me show you how.

1. Satya says empathy increases performance.

Andy teaches: “Care increases energy, and energy increases results.

In Andy’s class Leading with LQ, he always tells managers:

“You don’t manage people with tasks.

You manage people with energy.”

Example from class:

A technical manager blamed his team for mistakes.

Andy coached him to validate effort first, then guide behaviour.

The team’s speed and accuracy improved in just one month.

Why?

Because appreciation creates energy.

Energy creates performance.

This is exactly what Microsoft found when they trained leaders in empathy — productivity rose.

2. Satya says listening is the key skill of future leaders.

Andy teaches: “Connection is the real communication.”**

In Becoming High Value Employees, Andy trains participants to:

• listen without preparing their reply

• acknowledge before debating

• build emotional safety in meetings

One participant said:

“My boss started giving me more responsibilities because he said I now ‘listen like a leader’.

Nothing changed except my LQ.”

Connection is not soft.

Connection is influence.

3. Satya says human qualities will matter MORE because AI can do the technical work.

Andy teaches: “If you don’t have LQ, you are replaceable.

AI writes reports, builds slides, answers emails.

But AI cannot:

• sense anxiety in a colleague

• comfort a frustrated client

• build trust in a team

• inspire loyalty

• repair conflict

• lead hearts through change

In Andy’s corporate LQ workshop, he tells employees:

“Your high value doesn’t come from what you do.

It comes from who you are while doing it.”

That’s why LQ graduates are promoted faster — they become “human assets,” not task machines.

4. Satya says empathy drives innovation.

Andy teaches: “Love opens the mind; fear shuts it down.

In the class Leading with LQ, Andy runs an exercise where managers must:

• give feedback using courage + care

• allow teams to speak honestly

• remove fear of punishment

Every time, the quality of ideas explodes.

One manager said:

“My team became creative the moment they felt safe.”

This is exactly what Microsoft discovered:

Teams innovate more when psychological safety rises.

And safety is the outcome of LQ.

5. Satya says modern leaders must see the whole person.

Andy teaches: “Love transforms people. Fear freezes them.

In High Value Employees, Andy shares a real story:

A staff member was quiet, withdrawn, almost invisible.

Andy coached her manager to simply say one sentence every week:

“I appreciate your consistency.”

Within two months:

Her confidence rose,

her initiative increased,

and she became one of the highest-performing staff.

Just one drop of love lit up her entire flame.

FINAL MESSAGE:

Satya Nadella gave the world the corporate language.

Andy Ng gives the world the practice.

Satya calls it Empathy.

Andy calls it Love Intelligence.

Both point to the same truth:

IQ makes you qualified.

EQ makes you pleasant.

But LQ makes you irreplaceable.  More of LQ at here https://asiatrainers.org/lqamazon

How I Became a Fortune Teller: Leveraging NLP, Fear and Greed, and Motivational Theories

Becoming a fortune teller wasn’t part of my childhood dreams. It started as an experiment, fueled by my curiosity about human behavior and the subtle forces that drive our decisions. Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...
