How to Avoid The Traps of Happiness

Are you happy now?  As a full-time Coach and Trainer since 2001, I have come across many people who are not happy because they told me that they are not getting anywhere in their career and life. On the other hand, I too met a few businesspeople who earn more than a million dollars a year complaining to me that they envy other people’s happiness. Jack Ma, one of the richest Chinese in the world that founded and owned Alibaba, revealed in public videos that he is pretty unhappy now and was the happiest when he was struggling in building up his business. So it seems that wealthy people are just as unhappy as people without money. This may come as a comfort for poor people, but it nevertheless stop them  from becoming rich. This is because if happiness is our reason to be rich, if you now know that being rich does not bring you happiness, why would you want to be rich?  That’s why I think it is of utmost importance that people do not get any idea that happiness has go...

7 Strategies for Limitless Business

7 Reasons Why I Like China

With the current craze on Belt and Road Initiative, many people have taken a serious look at China again. From my several trips to China in the past one year, there are 7 reasons why I like China: #1 - The people are friendly, although they may not be courteous or wanting to please you. But they get things done.  And from my interactions with them, people in China seem to be happy. #2 - The food is delicious and cheap. A good meal for me costs about 10 to 20 RMB, which is very cheap and good, for they often include rice, soup, meat and vegetable #3 - Safe. Crime rate is low in China, and risks of terrorist attack is low due to the tight control of the government over everyday life in China #4 - Transport is cheap and good. Public transport by bus, train and high speed trains are cheap.  Metro starts at 2 RMB while Uber-like taxis (Didi) is often half price of taxis, which starts from less than 10 RMB.  #5 - Abundant business opportunities due to the high ...

Belt and Road Initiative Grand Plans

On 14th May 2017, China ’s President Xi Jinping sought to attract countries to join his ambitious “Belt and Road Initiative” at an international forum on Sunday. Xi’s massive trade and investment grand plan seeks to connect nations along the new Silk Road routes through economic cooperation and infrastructure development. We sum up Xi’s key offerings as covered in his keynote speech at the Belt and Road summit on Sunday morning. Boosting funds China ’s Silk Road Fund will increase funding by 100 billion yuan, Chinese banks will extend 300 billion yuan in overseas capital, the China Development Bank will splash out 250 billion yuan, and the Export and Import Bank of China will add 130 billion yuan in special loans to Belt and Road projects. In all,  China pledged at least 780  bllion yuan for this grand belt and road initiative plan . Countering protectionism “ China ’s Belt and Road Initiative is based on the historic roots of the Silk Road, it focuses on Asia...

Most Useful Quotes from Taoism

As China’s only indigenous religion, Taoism’s influence is found in everything from calligraphy and politics to medicine and poetry. It represents the unknown, and inspires us to go to places to discover more about our nature. Taoism has achieved an incredible resurgence in the West in recent years, and for good reason. It’s full of wisdom on how to live a life of passion while remaining detached and free of the ego. Here are my 5 favorite quotes from Taoist spiritual masters which provide a great introduction to mindfulness and the Taoist way of life. 1. Be faithful to your nature  “The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished.” ― Ming-Dao Deng 2. Know yourself “A man who knows how little he knows is well, a man wh...

Future is This Different

An interesting talk by the MD of Daimler Benz a bit mind blowing really. An interesting concept of what could lay ahead. In a recent interview the MD of Daimler Benz (Mercedes Benz) said their competitors are no longer other car companies but Tesla (obvious), Google, Apple, Amazon 'et al' are…… There have always been the 3 constants ... Death, Taxes and CHANGE! Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years. Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties. Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected. In the US, young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM Watson, you can get legal advice (so far for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90...

Ladder of Persuasion

In my over 17 years of training with Asia Trainers transforming tens of thousands of people in 15 countries in sales, management, and finance, people often asked me, Andy, how do you get people to believe in you?   To me believing in me is the lowest level, for I don't want people to just believe in me, but also do what I believe. There are 7 levels in this ladder of persuasion, courtesy of author Andy Ferarri Norman: Level 1: Literature. This includes the vendor's posters, flyers, brochures, write-ups, e-mailers, websites, videos, slides and any posts from the vendor in social media. It is the lowest in terms of persuasion because it is biased as it comes from the vendor. No customer will be believing this 100%, right? Level 2: Social Media. Nowadays people believe and trust social media more than vendor's literature, but this can get overkill. Social media is more powerful not because of its reach, but because social media is read at a casual way and people are less...
