PLG for Corporate Leaders, Government Officials and Politicians

PLG Purpose Love Gratitude was created by Dr Vivian Passion Koh in 2020 and has been used extensively in many situations.  Today let's look at how PLG is tailored for corporate leaders, government officials, and politicians:

1. Self (Leadership Integrity)

Purpose: “Our vision remains unchanged—we’re here to innovate for long-term sustainability.”

Love: Admits mistakes, invites diverse views, and shows vulnerability in strength.

Gratitude: Thanks the team for staying resilient and committed through uncertainty.

2. Relationships (Cross-Agency or Team Collaboration)

Govt Director: Working with another ministry on a complex social issue.

Purpose: “We are here to serve the people, not defend departments.”

Love: Listens to all stakeholders, includes community voices in policy-making.

Gratitude: Publicly acknowledges the contributions of every agency and frontliner.

3. Work (Organizational Culture)

Corporate HR Head: Rolling out a new hybrid work policy.

Purpose: “To create an empowered, flexible, high-performance workforce.”

Love: Policy includes mental wellness support, trust-based accountability, not micromanagement.

Gratitude: Sends personal thank-you notes to managers who piloted the model.

4. Health (Well-being Leadership)

Minister:
Launching a national mental health initiative.

Purpose: “Health is not just absence of illness. It’s our foundation for thriving.”

Love: Includes stories of lived experiences, reducing stigma.

Gratitude: Acknowledges the invisible work of caregivers and volunteers.

5. Contribution (Legacy & Nation-Building)

Politician: Speaking at National Day or retirement.

Purpose: “My role was never about me—it was about uplifting every citizen.”

Love: Recognizes all those who disagreed or challenged, as contributors to better ideas.

Gratitude: “Thank you for allowing me to serve. I leave with nothing but love for this nation.”

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...

Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...
