From Common Sense to Common Practice After many years of training people, I have come to realise something: The most important things in life are often not things we don't know. They are things we know, but don't do. We know we should listen. We know we should care. We know we should appreciate people. We know trust takes years to build and moments to destroy. We know we should have the courage to do what is right. These are common sense. But common sense is not always common practice. And that is why I believe the job of a trainer is not simply to transfer knowledge. A trainer must touch hearts. Knowing Is Not Enough If participants leave my class saying, “Andy taught me many things today,” I have only completed part of my job.
