SuperME Ba Gua

Dr Vivian Passion Koh asked me, "Andy, what makes you want to pursue the SuperME course? How does it fit into your Sinology courses like Yijing?"

This is the answer I gave her:

Yijing, the mother of Sinology, has 6 key concepts. Today I talk about the Ba Gua or 8 Trigrams of Qian, Kun, Kan, Li, Xun, Zhen, Gen and Dui. They do fit very well into Vivian's SuperME and PLG concepts:

The 8 Trigrams (Ba Gua) of the Yijing are profoundly reflect the movements of nature, life, and human consciousness. When we map them onto the SuperME framework—centered on Purpose, Love, and Gratitude (PLG)—we unlock a beautiful integration of ancient wisdom with modern transformation.

☰ Qian 乾 – UNIVERSE (The Creative)

SuperME Essence: Purpose-driven action

PLG Lens: Purpose

Qian symbolizes vision, clarity, and leadership. In SuperMe, this is your inner drive to create and initiate from your higher self—not ego.

☷ Kun 坤 – Earth (The Receptive)

SuperME Essence: Deep surrender and nurturing

PLG Lens: Love + Gratitude

Kun teaches us to receive, support, and embody humility. It is the SuperMe practice of listening, nurturing others, and honoring the unseen.

☵ Kan 坎 – Water (The Abyss)

SuperME Essence: Emotional resilience

PLG Lens: Gratitude

Kan reflects the hidden depths—fears, trials, and emotional challenges. Through Gratitude, SuperMe teaches us to see darkness as part of the growth journey.

☲ Li 離 – Fire (Clarity & Illumination)

SuperME Essence: Insight and self-awareness

PLG Lens: Love

Li is about light—truth, understanding, and expression. SuperMe encourages loving clarity: seeing ourselves and others honestly with compassion.

☴ Xun 巽 – Wind/Wood (Gentle Penetration)

SuperME Essence: Influence through consistency

PLG Lens: Purpose

Xun represents soft but persistent purpose. Like the wind, SuperMe teaches us to lead not by force, but through integrity and subtle power.

☳ Zhen 震 – Thunder (Action & Awakening)

SuperME Essence: Breakthroughs and boldness

PLG Lens: Purpose

Zhen jolts us into action. SuperME is not passive—it awakens you from Survival-Me to take courageous steps with purpose.

☶ Gen 艮 – Mountain (Stillness & Boundaries)

SuperME Essence: Self-discipline and reflection

PLG Lens: Gratitude

Gen reminds us of sacred stillness. In SuperMe, this is the power of pausing, setting boundaries, and being grateful for solitude and reflection.

☱ Dui 兌 – Lake (Joy & Communication)

SuperME Essence: Joyful connection

PLG Lens: Love + Gratitude

Dui is about openness, expression, and celebration. SuperMe invites us to live with a joyful heart, to connect deeply, and to be thankful for the now.

When you awaken your SuperMe, you are living all 8 Gua—not separately, but in dynamic harmony.

Just like the Yijing, SuperME sees life as movement, transformation, and return.
