Law of Distraction (LoD): The Hidden Force That Blocks the Law of Attraction

Most people understand the Law of Attraction.

They know that what they focus on expands. They know that positive thoughts, clear goals, and strong intentions attract desired outcomes.

The problem is not that they don't know the Law of Attraction.

The problem is that while trying to activate the Law of Attraction, they unknowingly activate the Law of Distraction (LoD).

The Law of Distraction happens when we become so obsessed with the outcome that we lose sight of the people, relationships, and actions that actually create the outcome.

Example 1: At Work

A manager wants a promotion.

He reads books on success, attends courses, and constantly visualizes himself becoming a director.

Nothing wrong with that.

But soon, his attention shifts entirely to his own advancement. He stops listening to his team. He becomes impatient when colleagues need help. Every conversation becomes transactional:

"How can this person help me get promoted?"

Ironically, the more he chases promotion, the further it moves away.

Why?

Because leadership positions are usually awarded to people who inspire trust, develop others, and create results through relationships.

His focus on promotion distracted him from the very behaviours that would attract promotion.

The Law of Attraction became the Law of Distraction.

Example 2: In Parenting

A mother wants her teenage son to excel academically.

Her intention is noble. She visualizes him entering a good university and having a successful future.

But gradually, every conversation becomes about grades, homework, tuition, and examinations.

She forgets to ask how he feels. She forgets to laugh with him.

She forgets that before he is a student, he is her son.

The son begins to withdraw emotionally. The relationship weakens.

The more she focuses on success, the more she loses influence.

Again, the Law of Attraction becomes the Law of Distraction.

How Love Intelligence (LQ) Disables the LoD

This is where Love Intelligence comes in.

LQ teaches us that results come through the 3Cs:

Care: Care about the person, not just the outcome.

Courage: Have the courage to do the right thing, even when it does not produce immediate results.

Connection: Build genuine human connection before seeking performance, compliance, or achievement.

When you practice LQ, you stop chasing outcomes directly.

You start creating the conditions that naturally attract those outcomes.

The manager focuses on helping his team succeed. Trust grows. Influence grows. Promotion follows.

The parent focuses on understanding and connecting with the child. The relationship strengthens. Influence returns. Growth follows.

Notice the pattern.

When you focus only on the destination, you become distracted.

When you focus on care, courage, and connection, you become attractive.

That is why Love Intelligence does not replace the Law of Attraction.

It completes it.

LQ disables the Law of Distraction and activates the Law of Attraction.

Because in life, the things we want most: trust, loyalty, influence, success, love, and wealth, are rarely attracted by chasing them directly.

They are attracted by the kind of person we become while serving, growing, and connecting with others. To get the LQ Edge, visit https://asiatrainers.org/lqedge

How I Became a Fortune Teller: Leveraging NLP, Fear and Greed, and Motivational Theories

Becoming a fortune teller wasn’t part of my childhood dreams. It started as an experiment, fueled by my curiosity about human behavior and the subtle forces that drive our decisions. Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...
