How to Be Human, Not Humanoid

Let me start with a difficult question.

In a world where AI can write speeches, generate slides, analyse markets, answer questions instantly, what makes you different?

Not what makes you better.

What makes you human?

Because here is the uncomfortable truth:

If your training…
If your consulting…
If your leadership…
is only about delivering information —

AI can already do that.

Faster. Cheaper.  Without ego.

So the question for all of us — trainers, professionals, leaders — is this:

Are we becoming more human?
Or are we slowly becoming humanoid?

Efficient. Polished. Scripted. Predictable.

But emotionally absent.

Many years ago, when I first started training full-time in 2001, I thought my job was to impress people.

I prepared thick slides. I quoted research. I demonstrated frameworks.
I wanted to look intelligent.

And after one session, a participant came up to me and said something I never forgot.

He didn’t comment on my slides or models.

He said:

“When you spoke about that failure in your life,
I felt understood.”

That was the moment I realised something.

People don’t remember your information.
They remember how they felt in your presence.

That was the beginning of my journey toward what I now call Love Intelligence.

INFORMATION DOES NOT CREATE TRANSFORMATION

In the AI era, information is abundant.

Transformation is scarce.

Why?

Because transformation is not cognitive.
It is relational.

The Yijing teaches us that life is constant change.

But it also teaches something deeper:

Change is not controlled by force.
It is guided by alignment.

Alignment of timing, intention, and of human hearts.

If you are only transferring content, you are replaceable.

If you are aligning hearts, you are indispensable.

That is the difference between human and humanoid.

SUN TZU – WIN WITHOUT FIGHTING

Sun Tzu said the highest form of victory
is to win without fighting.

In today’s world, fighting looks like:

Competing on price, credentials and on speed.

That is humanoid competition.

The human way?

Build trust so deeply that resistance dissolves naturally.

Influence without pressure.
Lead without intimidation.
Sell without manipulation.

That is strategy powered by Love Intelligence.

Care builds trust.
Courage protects integrity.
Connection multiplies influence.

This is not softness.

This is power without aggression.

WHAT MAKES US HUMAN (2 minutes)

A humanoid delivers answers.

A human creates encounters.

A humanoid processes data.

A human holds space.

A humanoid optimises systems.

A human regulates emotions.

Love Intelligence is what keeps us human.

Not sentimental love.

But intelligent love.

The ability to:

  • listen deeply

  • speak truth courageously

  • connect beyond transactions

  • create safety in uncertainty

When intelligence becomes cheap, human presence becomes premium.

So ask yourself:

When participants attend your training,
do they leave with slides…

Or do they leave with clarity?

When clients engage you,
do they receive advice…

Or do they experience trust?

When your team works with you,
do they see a professional…

Or do they feel a leader?

That is the difference between human and humanoid.

If this resonates with you,
then the next step is not another AI tool.

It is deeper human mastery.

That is why I wrote three books — not as theory, but as integration.

Love Intelligence — how Care, Courage and Connection create real influence and wealth in the AI era.

Yijing Explained — understanding change so you can move with timing, not against it.

Sun Tzu Sales Secrets — winning without fighting in business and leadership.

Together, they form a system.

Heart. Wisdom. Strategy.

If you want to remain human, not humanoid,

I invite you to explore these ideas further.

Because the future will not belong to the smartest machine.

It will belong to the most human leader.

Thank you.

How I Became a Fortune Teller: Leveraging NLP, Fear and Greed, and Motivational Theories

Becoming a fortune teller wasn’t part of my childhood dreams. It started as an experiment, fueled by my curiosity about human behavior and the subtle forces that drive our decisions. Over time, what began as a study of psychology and human interaction evolved into an unexpected career—one where I use the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the primal drivers of fear and greed, and motivational theories to help people uncover their paths. The First Step: Understanding the Human Psyche I was always fascinated by why people do what they do. During my university years, I studied psychology, particularly the works of Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, and Victor Vroom. Their theories provided insights into motivation, reinforcement, and decision-making. But I wanted to move beyond the academic realm and see how these theories worked in real life. Around this time, I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). This framework for understanding communication and behavior is based on the...

If Not You, Who Else?

I learnt this very powerful 5-word phrase from Singapore's highest ever box-office movie ever: "Ah Boys to Men II". In one scene, the recruits were about to start their 3-day field camp.  Their Officer-in-Command asked them, "Before we moved out, anybody not feeling well?"  All the soldiers replied loudly, "No Sir!!!" "Gentlemen", continued the Officer, "Every time the training gets tougher, one thought comes to your mind, 'Why Must I Serve National Service?' "My answer to you is, 'If Not You, Then Who Else?'" Wow!  What a powerful phrase!  If Not You, Who Else may mean: You are the most suitable person, and we can't find anyone better than you.  This is appreciation at the highest level How can you push this responsibility to someone else? I am making a request to you specifically, please don't reject my request Can you find me another person more suitable than you? Please refer me anot...
