Most people don’t have a reality problem.
They have a starting point problem.
This is one of the most misunderstood lessons from the Yijing.
In Yijing, a hexagram is read from the bottom up.
Lower trigram first. Then upper trigram.
Why?
Because life is meant to be read from: inside → outside.
Not the other way round.
But today, almost everyone lives inverted.
- A girl works in a KTV bar. That’s what people see.
But what if you start from inside?
She is a student. Who chooses to work part-time to support herself.
Same person.
Different world.
- A man loves another man’s wife. Sounds wrong.
But invert it.
He fell in love with a woman…who happens to be married.
Same situation.
Different human understanding.
- “I am late for work.”
That’s failure.
Invert it.
“I am late… and I still choose to show up.”
Now it’s responsibility.
Nothing changed.
Not the facts.
Not the events.
Only this changed:
👉 Where you start the story,
And that changes everything: Your judgment, emotion, decision, outcome
In organisations, this is happening every day.
- “My team is resistant.”
→ You push harder.
Or:
- “My team has concerns I have not understood.”
→ You lead better.
- “Customers are complaining.”
→ You defend.
Or:
- “Customers are telling us something we are not hearing.”
→ You grow.
- “People are the problem.”
Or:
- “My way of seeing people is the problem.”
This is not positive thinking.
This is not reframing for comfort.
This is strategic perception.
The kind that determines whether you:
- escalate conflict or dissolve it,
- lose trust or build it
- burn out or win without fighting
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Most leaders don’t fail because of wrong strategy.
They fail because they start from the wrong place.
They read the top trigram first
— the external situation —
and completely miss what is happening inside.
And this is where Love Intelligence comes in.
Because without it, inversion becomes manipulation.
You twist stories to make yourself feel better.
With Love Intelligence:
You don’t distort reality.
You see deeper into it.
If you remember one thing, remember this:
Life does not change when events change.
Life changes when you change where you start the story.
That is Yijing.
And that is leadership in the AI era.
